Request to Rehome a Dog
Owning a dog is a long term commitment and LELRR understands that owners can face challenges during that time. We are committed to assisting owners keep their dog in their home by recommending various resources that they can contact for assistance--training, low-cost medical, food or otherwise.
In the event you have exhausted options and are unable to keep your dog and are looking for rehoming assistance, please do NOT call us.
We instead ask that you fill out our Request to Re-home form (see below), providing as much detail as possible, so that we can assist you further. LELRR is not able to take privately owned dogs into care unless it is an extreme circumstance, such as safety, grave illness, death, etc. Unfortunately, with the number of dogs in need without owners, we do not have homes and financial resources to help those already living in a home. All owner rehomes will be "Courtesy" posted on our Petfinder page, however will be private adoptions between the owner and the adopter and LELRR will assist in facilitating the process. While there is no fee for our service, we do ask that the adopter make a contribution to LELRR in the lab's name.

For re-home consideration, we require the following:
- The dog must be able to remain in your home during rehoming and you must live within the adoption radius of 150 driving miles of Medina, OH.
- You MUST be the legal owner of the dog (no 3rd party submissions).
- We do not represent labs/lab mixes with a history of aggression, either human or extreme dog aggression.
- We will consider lab mixes for rehoming if they are representative of the typical Labrador, both in appearance and temperament.
- The Labrador / Lab-mix must be updated on vaccinations and spayed or neutered if 1 year of age or older. If younger and not altered, LELRR will work with the owner and adopter to facilitate spay or neutering. Heartworm preventative and a negative test are strongly encouraged.
- The current veterinarian’s contact information must be provided
- If obtained from a breeder or other organization, proof you have contacted the breeder/organization is required
- Submission of the Request to Re-home form, providing as much detail as possible, so that we can assist you further.
